How many NEOs have been discovered so far?

As of 17 December 2001, 1706 NEOs have been discovered. 551 of these NEOs are asteroids of diameter approximately 1 km or larger. 357 NEOs have been classified as potentially hazardous asteroids of which 104 are estimated as greater than 1 km in diameter. 427 new NEos have been discovered in the period between 1 January 2001 and 17 December 2001 which shows an increasing rate of discovery. There are currently 44 identified Near Earth Comets (NECs).
