How do we search for NEOs?

The search for NEOs is performed by the systematic observation of the night sky by medium sized (1 to 2 m) telescopes fitted with sophisticated CCD detectors. There are several telescopes, mostly in the United States, used in the search for NEOs, which are operated by NASA, the US Air Force, and various US universities.

You can find out more about NEO searches in our virtual exhibition.
