What is the Palermo Impact Scale?
The Palermo Technical Impact Scale allows scientists to rate the level hazard represented by a potential impact. The Palermo Scale actually a measure of the probability that the collision will occur compared with the collision of a random NEO at anytime before the predicted impact. Values on the Palermo Scale of between -2 and 0 warrant monitoring of the object. Positive values merit concern.
