What is Planet X and is it dangerous?
There are many different Planet X theories and none originate from factual information or are thought credible by scientists. Originally the Planet X 'theory' stems from a sister planet to the Earth located on the opposite side of the Sun so it can never be observed from Earth. However, no evidence for the presence of such a planet exists and none of the effects it would have on the motion of other planets has been detected. The formation of such a Planet X would be difficult to understand given our present knowledge of our solar system.
Recently the Planet X theory has been revived as a conspiracy theory. In this version Planet X is an asteroid, comet or kuiper belt objects that passes close to the Earth or collides with our planet. No such object is known.
The Planet X theories probably originate from misunderstandings of scientific hypotheses such as Nemesis.
