This weekend marks the start of the 65th Annual Meeting of the Meteoritical Society, which this year is hosted by UCLA in Los Angeles. The Meteoritical Society was founded in 1933 to promote the study of extraterrestrial materials and their history including impacts, craters and Near Earth Objects. Most of the 950 members of the Society, representing some 33 countries and including amateurs as well as professional geologists, chemists, physicists and astronomers, will attend the conference to present and discuss the latest discoveries in extraterrestrial materials.
Every year the Meteoritical Society Meeting proves to be an exciting event packed with new discoveries, theories and revelations on the origins of our Solar System. This year will be no exception with special sessions on Impacts, Cosmic Dust, Asteroids, The Moon and Mars. You'll be able to find out about the latest results from the meeting in these daily LA reports.
