How fast do asteroids and comets travel?
Asteroids and comets travel at various velocities, but they are all measured in kilometres per second, and known as hyper-velocities. In general, comets travel at higher velocities than asteroids. It is the tremendous velocity of NEOs that make them such a potential hazard.
